A screencast is just a recording of your screen with your voice over it. It's the single most useful video skill for teachers — make one explanation, reuse it forever.

Loom and Screencastify are the classroom favorites (free tiers, one-click record, instant share link). No install? Chromebooks have a built-in Screen Record, and you can record a Google Slides presentation directly.

Five rules for watchable videos
- Keep it short — aim for under 6 minutes; attention drops fast after that.
- One idea per video — easier to make, easier to find later.
- Say what you're doing as you click, so it works for listeners too.
- Don't chase perfection — a small stumble is fine; re-recording forever isn't.
- Caption it before you share (auto-captions + a quick fix).
